Christmas Post #1!

Christmas is just around the corner!
My students enjoy making all kinds of Christmas related projects. Here are just some of them:
Painting Rudolph
Children first drew Rudolph using pencils. They went over with sharpies before painting Rudolph.
Christmas Trees
Another fun project was making Christmas trees out of painted paper plates. Children first painted the paper plates. After we let them dry, we cut each plate into three pieces.
For decorations, children used colorful sequins. For snow, they used cotton balls. For the snow on the ground, they ripped white construction paper.
 Gingerbread Houses
We used graham crackers, lots of frosting and candy to make some very yummy and cute gingerbread houses!
I gave each child his/her own plate of frosting and candy knowing that they will be licking their little fingers! So, fun and sanitary, all at the same time! :-)

Here are some of my Christmas products: from practicing and mastering nonsense words, to LOTS of comprehensive, differentiated and engaging Math and Literacy - ELA activities.
Help your students improve their reading, writing, vocabulary, comprehension skills!

Thanksgiving Projects Post # 2!

Here are more projects that my students love!
We will make a collage using two pilgrims (woman and man) projects and two Native-Americans (woman and man) projects.

Children used construction paper, paper plates, glue.
For each of them, they will complete a writing prompt "If I were a _____ (pilgrim, Native-American) I would…."
For journaling, children will illustrate and label their pics. The subject will be: "What I learned from _______(pilgrims, Native-Americans).
Native-American man and woman!

Check out my product focused on nonsense words, all in a very cute and relevant Thanksgiving theme.
Activities are differentiated, interactive and engaging. Students work on reading, writing, sorting, segmenting and blending nonsense words.

Also, we made necklaces using colorful penne pasta. I painted the pasta using food coloring and mixed it all in a Ziploc bag. I let it dry overnight before the children used it.

Thanksgiving Projects - Post # 1!!!

Thanksgiving is a wonderful time of the year when we express our gratitude for all the wonderful people, experiences and things in our lives.
In Kindergarten, we have lots of fun learning about the First Thanksgiving, pilgrims, Native- Americans, accurate yet age appropriate historical information about dwellings, types of food, crops, daily life and activities that people experienced.
Here are some of our projects:
Children made cute turkeys using construction paper. This project is great for eye-hand coordination, symmetry, and small motor development. They turned out very cute!

We also made several versions of pilgrims and Native Americans.
For the pilgrims, we used construction paper, paper plates, ribbon, buttons.

We made placemats. We used handprints for turkeys and shapes for patterning. Students had fun drawing the turkeys and creating different patterns.

We made "indian corn" and painted with Q-tips. For the Mayflower we used handprints for the sail and construction paper for the ship itself.
