Pumpkins Galore!

It is that time of the year when we have fun with pumpkins, use pumpkins to enhance children's learning and take advantage of many hands-on activities!

Here are just some of the many pumpkin related activities that we do in my class!

We use real pumpkins to investigate, measure, weigh, make predictions, float vs. sink, etc.
I was lucky enough to have enough pumpkins donated for each table/team.
We count seeds and place them in groups of ten. So, we practice counting by ones and tens.
We make these cute pumpkins using tissue paper and crepe paper. Children rip small pieces and glue them all to create a textured pumpkin. So cute!

We also use strips of orange construction paper and make 3D pumpkins. These always turn out GREAT!
Kids love them and the activity sure helps them with the eye-hand coordination and small motor skills.

We measure our height with pumpkins. We do this every year with apples but it is fun to add pumpkins, every once in a while.
Children use foam Halloween pieces to create various patterns.

Of course, all these activities make for some excellent journal entries and writing!
