Snowmen - Post # 2 of many!

I just love this snowman project!
The snowmen are happy and enjoying the snowfall!
We read "Snowmen at Night" and the children had a lot of fun creating these snowmen.
We talked about fiction vs. nonfiction based on the book we read, why we can't see the snowmen's eyes, how they look upward and loving the snow falling down!
I gave each child a piece of black construction paper and made available lots of colorful pieces of construction paper.
The kids thought it was funny how the snowmen's noses are "hanging in the air!" and they had fun walking "like the snowmen with their noses pointing to the ceiling!" It takes so little for five and six year olds to have fun, doesn't it?
Children made patterns on the snowmen's scarves using two different colors of construction paper. They used black markers to draw the smiles1
For the snowflakes, my students used white paint and made "fingerprint snowflakes" around the snowman!
Check out my newest product focused on ELA/Literacy and Math concepts. These task cards that I created are all CCSS aligned and offer a fun and interactive way to practice and review important academic concepts.

Snowmen - Post #1 of many!

We like to make all kinds of fun snowmen projects!
Here is another snowman project that my students really enjoyed!
The children painted the snowmen using pencil erasers.
I started by giving each child a piece of construction paper. They each traced the outline of their snowman and then painted it by dipping the pencil eraser in white paint.
Construction paper of various colors was used for the scarves, hats, boots and arms.
First thing: construction paper, pencils and white paint.
Each child drew the outline of his/her snowman first and then started painting it using the pencil eraser and white paint. One child commented that his snowman is made of many snowballs all put together! :)
Children used construction paper for scarves, boots, hats, and arms.
I really like how they each used different colors and created patterns on the scarves! Also, the arms are so cute: different in length and the number of "branches"!
My students used black markers for the eyes and some of the buttons, while other students chose to use construction paper for the buttons. Here are some of the projects drying up!

Christmas Post # 2!

Here are more Christmas ideas and projects for your little ones!
Check out my "Christmas Post #1!" for more ideas and projects!
Last week, my students made elves, fingerprint candy canes, and Christmas trees.

ELVES
For the elves, I traced all the parts except for legs, torso and arms. The kids used large construction paper and cut these freely. They always turn out very, very cute with different length and width legs and arms!
The children used pom poms for the hats and some leftover Christmas decorations (peel and stick type: candy canes, gingerbread figures, Christmas trees, etc) to decorate the elves' shirts. Some children wanted buttons, as well.
This project is a lot of fun and great for small motor development. They have to cut so many pieces, peel and stick decorations, pick sequin, glue everything, etc. In this picture, a child is cutting small strips of yellow paper to decorate the elf's stockings!

CHRISTMAS TREES
For this projects, I cut several pieces of construction paper. I used different lengths and demonstrated how to assemble the trees. The children first sorted the pieces out from the longest to the shortest. They ripped brown construction paper for the tree trunk.

They used glue to make "lights" and designs, a star, which they later covered in glitter. FUN!!!!
They had lots of sequin to decorate their tress, as well.

CANDY CANES
I gave the kids red and white paint and bows. They used their cute little fingers to create candy canes.
Easy and fun!
Here are some of my Christmas products: from practicing and mastering nonsense words, to LOTS of comprehensive, differentiated and engaging Math and Literacy - ELA activities.

Christmas Post #1!

Christmas is just around the corner!
My students enjoy making all kinds of Christmas related projects. Here are just some of them:
Painting Rudolph
Children first drew Rudolph using pencils. They went over with sharpies before painting Rudolph.
Christmas Trees
Another fun project was making Christmas trees out of painted paper plates. Children first painted the paper plates. After we let them dry, we cut each plate into three pieces.
For decorations, children used colorful sequins. For snow, they used cotton balls. For the snow on the ground, they ripped white construction paper.
 Gingerbread Houses
We used graham crackers, lots of frosting and candy to make some very yummy and cute gingerbread houses!
I gave each child his/her own plate of frosting and candy knowing that they will be licking their little fingers! So, fun and sanitary, all at the same time! :-)

Here are some of my Christmas products: from practicing and mastering nonsense words, to LOTS of comprehensive, differentiated and engaging Math and Literacy - ELA activities.
